A key feature is its uncertainty-aware handwriting recognition, which retains raw and cleaned transcriptions, allowing Hermes to clarify potentially ambiguous input. The notebook functions by capturing handwriting locally, preserving the page offline, and submitting recognized text through an authenticated private boundary to a localhost-only Notebook adapter. This adapter then creates a standard Hermes message event, facilitating tool-assisted replies. The project emphasizes security, ensuring that the device never directly accesses Hermes model credentials. It also provides a dedicated Hermes platform plugin for easy installation and configuration within the Hermes Agent ecosystem, featuring extensive support for environmental variables to customize endpoints, models for vision/OCR cleanup, and authentication.
