Hermes PayGuard is a dedicated Hermes Agent plugin designed to facilitate secure and controlled USDC and x402 payments. It integrates seamlessly as an add-on, providing Hermes with payment capabilities while enforcing strict operator boundaries to prevent unauthorized transactions. The plugin allows Hermes to prepare payment intents, inspect their status, and execute payments only if predefined policies are met. It supports Circle developer-controlled USDC transfers, Circle user-controlled transfer challenges, and Circle CCTP cross-chain USDC routing with attestation-aware execution. Furthermore, it enables x402 paid HTTP fetches, including micropayments and nanopayments, and maintains a local audit ledger with replayable intent states. The security model, similar to CaMeL Guard, emphasizes trusted control (operator approval, local policy) over untrusted data (webpages, invoices) and employs gated execution to re-verify policies and approvals before any funds are moved. The plugin includes various tools for preparing USDC and CCTP transfers, executing intents, and fetching paid URLs, along with comprehensive documentation for installation, operator workflow, CCTP executor boundary, and architecture.
