Noisegate is designed to address the problem of excessive and often irrelevant output generated by tools, which can quickly consume valuable context windows in AI agents like Hermes. It acts as a deterministic compaction layer, filtering out noise from tool outputs such as test logs, package installation logs (e.g., `apt`, `pip`, `npm`), `git` commands, Docker logs, and various system diagnostic streams. The plugin intelligently identifies and retains critical information, leaving exact content intact when not explicitly recognized as noisy, and only compacts when confident. It integrates with Hermes Agent via two hooks: `transform_terminal_output` and `transform_tool_result`, ensuring that agents receive signal-rich results rather than overwhelming noise. Noisegate also offers a standalone CLI for direct use in scripts or CI, allowing developers to pre-process outputs before they ever reach an agent. It explicitly avoids modifying sensitive content like file reads, patches, diffs, search results, or memory data, guaranteeing data integrity.
